USCIS Form I-9 Glitch:  Equifax I-9 Management Clients NOT impacted

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently announced that employers who used Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, downloaded between Nov. 14 and Nov. 17, 2016, should review their Form I-9 records.  Numbers entered in the SSN field were transposed when employees completed and printed Section 1 using a computer; therefore, employers should check Section I to ensure the entries appear correctly.

This same announcement goes on to state that employers should have their employees draw a line through the transposed social security number in Section 1, enter the correct number, then initial and date the change.  Furthermore, the blog recommends that employers should also include a written explanation with the Form I-9 giving the reason for the correction – in the event of an audit, citing the USCIS announcement dated April 6, 2017.

However, if you are already an Equifax I-9 Management solution client, this glitch is not an issue for you. The I-9 Management solution provides a secure, automated compliance process, centralized control, and forms management that helps avoid problems as outlined earlier.
